Lucky 2013!
It's been forever, right? We should catch up.
March has so far been pretty nice. Some good spring preview days - mixed with a few last gasps of winter. I already did my 'spring opener', a 22 mile St Patricks day ride over the east side and downtown.
The saturday morning findlay market ride
My plans for the year are a work in progress. I'm planning on losing another 30 pounds - getting down to 190. I want to complete a century - a 100 mile ride, the cycling equivalent of a marathon.
I'm looking forward to the first mildly temperature weekend to take an overnight ride - up the loveland trail to Fort Ancient, perhaps - camp out, and then back.
As the weather gets nicer, I want to try the yellow springs double metric - 100 km up, sleep over at the motel or B&B, and then 100 km back the following day.
I'll visit my sister in Los Angeles over the summer, and hope to get s goodly amount of riding while I'm there.
I'm looking at a number of different other cycling plans for the summer... Colorado mountains, maybe the Colorado national monument, perhaps another rail-trail tour, might do GOBA. The ohio cycling event calendar is published, so I'm looking over those. Might even see about taking in some overseas cycling. :!
So, yeah, 2013, looking to be a lucky year.
I finished my big end of year ride, up and over the Allegheny mountains. It was awesome.
I got back home, and enjoyed the respite of the cold and frozen months. No major weekend plans for like months! It was nice, relaxing. I started sleeping IN on the weekends, getting housework done that I had put off for nine months.. Dishes, laundry, yard work. I planned and executed renovations and painted the last of the beige walls.
I kept riding, though at 18 degrees, cold and icy, 2-3 mile rides were more than adequate.
In 2013, I set a minimum mileage goal of 30 miles in January, and an additional 30 miles each month up to 180 miles in June. January was easy, February was cold and icy, but I hit 70 miles, march is looking good!
In mid-January I made a presentation of my GAP trip at REI. There were a few 60 degree plus days.
February was cold. I bought a new bike!
